I've been a member for two years and came to it via a friend who didn't stay as long as me! I've done over three hundred reviews and therefore must have received the same number. 95% of those received have been useful, and those that weren't were mainly complimentary, which is necessary to bolster a flagging ego from time to time! But I have learned at least as much by analysing what works (and doesn't) in others' writing as I have by being reviewed.

I'm taking a break from reviewing on that particular site, partly because I'm suffering from 'review fatigue', but also because I'm writing. Over the last year I've had a lot of success with my stories on YWO, but it didn't start that way. Because of the feedback I've had - and the way I've learned to accept and absorb criticism - I have gradually climbed the charts and my stories have regularly got into the top ten and Best Sellers list.

So I'd say - why not go for it? What has anyone got to lose? Publishing is a competitive arena and the sooner you find out if your work has potential and your skin is thick enough, the better.

If you'd like to read my stories, please visit:
http://howesue.wordpress.com/

Good luck all you writers!Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
